Larvik’s most well known son, Thor Heyerdahl was born on the 6th of October 1914. His life, research, expeditions and passionate commitment to saving the environment and to peace made Thor Heyerdahl one of the most famous and recognized Norwegians of all time.
Now you can walk in his footsteps, visit his newly restored childhood home and learn about his famous expeditions at the Larvik Maritime Museum. His bust in Larvikitt has been placed a short stroll from the museum forever facing his hometown.
